Emacs always has a lag when I start it up, whereas TA is instant. You have the full power of Lua inside TA. That's not to say TA does everything you can do in Emacs, but it replaced all of the scripting I was doing with Emacs. I don't want to start a flamewar, but I moved most things I was doing in Emacs to Textadept a while back because I found Textadept more convenient. Textadept - probably influenced by Emacs - is one that I've used extensively as a frontend for a programming language. Other text editors do have that capability. Unfortunately, it's not an accurate statement. I think many Emacs users have this view, and as a long time Emacs user, I love the ability to write libraries of functions and interact with them from a text editor. Other editor users simply have no concept of how easy it is to whip up some quick script to perform some task in emacs. > maillist : ntg-context at ntg.Yesterday on Hacker News, someone commented > If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! > /tex/texmf-context/context/data/textadept/context/textadept. > I've downloaded textadept, put its dir in the PATH and started > Sure I will not urge you to enable lpeg inside Scite, I was simply > but it gives some problems with package dependencies. > bit it's possible to install it anyway, adding the i386 architecture, > I tried to run SciTE with wine, but it's 32 bit and my Debian is 64 The advatage is that it is consistent in the tex, xml, lua, etc lexingĪnd in tex mode also supports mixed mode lexing > to try the editor you use, benefiting also from the customization you > Until now I used Geany or Texworks to edit my files, but I was curious I remember that there was something with the name (or maybe some path is > because the interface is changed and the shortcut keys work. > Instead the customization files from the context distribution work, > SciTEGlobal.properties file, but it seems to have no effect. > I've installed it and added the import directive in the > ignore the Scintillua library, which should bring in the lpeg library. > Thank you Hans, I followed the manual but Scite under Linux seems to > should work (hans that textapdept didn't change much in the meantime) > textadept -u /texmf-context/context/textadept/data/context/ > (running from the editor is then somewhat more clumsy) > start textadept -u c:\data\develop\context\textadept\data\context\ > be used for that (it simply replaces some text adept files and > enable/load lpeg in scite itself (should be doable i guess) when i have time (or motivation) i might look into a way to > - on osx we never manages to get the combination working > - on linux i just use wine with the above > this is described in the manual in the distribution btw. > - adapt the global or user properties file this is what i do (maybe i should ship a zip with all binaries > aspect is that there is no real connection with scite's other > lua code to a large extend to suit my needs and another unfortunate > in fact, even the scintillua code was a moving target that i redid > sciet itself nor that scite has lpeg on board (in which case i could > it's a bit annoying that this small lpeg lexing extension is not part > textadept (that also uses the scintilla editing component) > the lpeg lexing is using a library from scintillua which comes with > that message about lpeg is just there because the main scite binary > When I run "lua a" it manages to load the lpeg library, > I've installed the package lua-lpeg from the Debian repository. > The message comes from the "a" file in the "context" > There's a message in the side window: "warning: lpeg not loaded". > Shortcuts keys work, but syntax highlighting does not, because the > Now I open Scite and can see the ConTeXt customization. > Appended the following lines to /etc/scite/SciTEGlobal.properties: > /etc/scite/context -> /usr/share/scite/context > and created a symbolic link to it in /etc/scite: > Copied the "context" folder from tex/texmf. > /etc/scite/lexers -> /usr/share/scite/lexers Created a symbolic link from /etc/scite/lexers to > Downloaded Scintillua and copied its "lexers" folder under > I've installed scite 3.7.2 from the Debian repository. > I'm trying to use SciTE under Debian GNU/Linux stable (64 bit) to > Il giorno sab, alle 10.47 0200, Hans Hagen ha scritto:
